Fantasy Travel: Where Will You Marvel at Gold when You Can Travel Again?

It’s been hard or impossible to travel during the coronavirus pandemic. How frustrated have you been?

Chances are you have been eager to travel again. But frustrating as it has been, we all need to remember that even though we have not been able to travel much in the last four or five months, we have still been able to continue buying, refining, and selling gold scrap, silver scrap, and platinum scrap too.

That’s because precious metal investors have been able to buy from a variety of online sources like eBay. And they have also been able to safely send their scrap and other holdings to Specialty Metals Smelters and Refiners for testing and recycling. So though we have all been frustrated, many of us haven’t had to stop our investing activities entirely.

But even so, many of us are eagerly waiting to start traveling again. And when we do, here are some destinations that hold special meaning for people who love – and invest in – gold.

Dahlonega Georgia

Dahlonega was the locale of the first gold rush in America. (Did you know that?) Nearly 50 years before the Great Gold Rush brought prospectors to California and Alaska, scrappy gold-panners were wading into streams in Georgia and striking it rich. Plus, Dahlonega was an area for gold mining.

Today, Dahlonega and its area offer lots of family-oriented tours and other experiences for visitors who want to relive what America’s first gold rush was like, and maybe even come home with a few gold nuggets from streams or mines. Plus, there are wineries and other attractions.

It’s fun, and beautiful too. To learn more, visit Dahlonega.org.

The Chollar Mine, Virginia City, Nevada

Here’s another fascinating historic site that proves that in the nineteenth century, people in many areas of America were prospecting for gold – and finding it. It’s the Chollar Mine in Nevada, one of the most productive mines in a gold-rich area known as the Comstock Lode. Plus, the Comstock Lode also yielded silver.

The Chollar Mine is a fascinating place to visit, with tours offered daily. Whether you’re investing in gold or silver scrap, it belongs on your life list. Visit the Chollarminetours.com.

The Diamond District, New York City

We also wanted to mention one destination you can visit the next time you are in a big city – in this case, Manhattan. It’s 47th Street, right in midtown, also known as The Diamond District. This street could be America’s premier destination for people who are looking for engagement rings, but it is a lot more too.  It is jam-packed with jewelry dealers, gold dealers, and everything related to gold, silver, platinum as well as gemstones.

If you go there, be adventurous. Go into buildings and poke around. You will find that even though some of the salespeople you will meet can be aggressive, most are simply good businesspeople who will answer your questions about jewelry. And it is an exotically international place in feel – you will find different businesses are staffed by Russians, Chasidic Jews, Europeans, Italians, Indian dealers, you name it. It all makes for a great place to learn while you fill your eyes with visions of piles of gold, silver, and platinum.
