A box full of short, snipped-off pieces of wire covered with a chalky white coating were actually the ends of brazing rods from a factory. They contained silver.
A small shot glass-sized metal cup looked like something that was used at a beverage bar, but it was actually a platinum crucible that was used in a testing lab. (Get ready to make some money on this one!)
A strange electronic box that weighed 50 pounds was hanging on a wall in a century-old factory. Its outside was covered with places to attach wires. A cardboard box full of small cylindrical tubes. What were they? Nobody ever figured that out, but they each contained a few dollars’ worth of silver.
A handle that clearly had been part of something – a knife, a serving fork? It turned out to be solid sterling silver, and it was worth more than $5.00.
A pile of dust that had been swept off the floor of an old jewelry factory. It looked like dirt, but it actually contained about $400.00 worth of gold dust!
A store room full of old photographic film that actually contained more than $100.00 worth of silver. You could just toss that kind of material. But why would you?
